THE PROJECT
The facility was built in response to NHS England's Transforming Care agenda. It pioneers a care model, developed from scratch, that challenges traditional frameworks to better support young people.
OUR APPROACH
The design draws on both UK and international design best practices and has had to overcome technical, financial, and logistical challenges throughout its delivery, working beyond the latest guidance with real innovation.
Constructed on a brownfield site, the design regenerates and incorporates a once-derelict building, achieves BREEAM excellence, and facilitates efficient staffing, meaning the finished building is truly sustainable
THE FACILITIES
Offering nine general adolescent bedrooms and four specialised psychiatric care rooms, the unit offers built-in flexibility and unparalleled accessibility/therapy options. It treats a spectrum of severe mental health issues through a comprehensive, recovery oriented treatment and education plan.
THE IMPACT
Inspire will mark a national shift in CAMHS delivery, as a service that has been shaped with young people at its heart. Young people and their families were involved in each stage of the building, identifying a suitable location, designing interiors, selecting the name and developing the services that will be used during treatment.
