The interiors were kept light, airy and minimalistic, with splashes of colour introduced into the furniture. The finishes had to meet a wide variety of criteria, with infection control being consulted from the outset on all the products we were proposing. Everything had to be easy to clean and maintain whilst being robust and aesthetically pleasing!
Having no open wards or 4 bedded areas was a huge step forward for this trust who wanted each mother to enjoy the privacy of a single room, a percentage of which is have birthing pools. We designed the delivery rooms in a non clinical style, giving them all a more domestic feel by the use of timber effect vinyl flooring and built in quality furniture, which concealed medical gases and power / data points. The rooms were further enhanced with splashes of colour in the furniture or on feature walls.
