The Lancashire Cardiac Centre provides heart and lung treatment for the people of Lancashire, Cumbria and beyond in facilities designed with patient focus in mind. The £52m centre, based in Blackpool, is one of the biggest developments that Victoria Hospital has seen in its history.

The new self contained Regional Cardiac Centre was one of a series of regional centre’s under construction in the country, the new centre was designed for elective surgery, day and outpatient clinics designed to service the North West and includes an education centre, cardiac investigation, radio diagnostic facilities, 4 cardiac catheter laboratories, 20 daycare beds, 114 acute beds, 20 bed ITU/HDU, 5 operating theatres and a central administration centre.  The centre occupies a corner of the existing Victoria Hospital site and is connected into the hospital circulation, but is in effect a free standing facility.

The centre was delivered via the Procure21 initiative with Laing O’Rourke as PSCP. The Cardiac Centre won awards for Design and Excellence in Construction from the Local Authority and continues to receive glowing accolades from patient focus groups.
