Moor Park School
Client: Lancashire County Council
Location: Preston
Value: £2.3Million
Status: Completed 2000
Moor Park is a large Comprehensive school close to the centre of Preston with an urban catchment. The school is housed in a series of edwardian buildings dating from around 1907 and improvements were precipitated by the LEA’s plans to merge two schools in the Moor Park area onto the Moor Park campus and to create a four form entry secondary school.
Gilling Dod were appointed by Lancashire County Council to carry out the major refurbishment of the School’s main building and the remodelling of a further 1957 building with the addition of a large extension. The new build sections of the scheme were designed to blend in with existing building, using matching brickwork and included a sports hall, kitchen and dining facilities. The refurbishment completely remodelled teaching spaces, in particular to allow the inclusion of IT equipment.
